We’re thrilled to announce that the winner of our LEGO City Space competition is eight-year-old Dylan! Dylan’s space craft, ‘Space Spinner’, includes a rotating bunk bed, space rock laboratory, a forested green space for growing food, and a climbing wall and karaoke machine to keep the astronauts entertained! There’s even a human hamster wheel that allows the astronauts to generate their own power.<\/p>\n

20 runners-up also also scooped LEGO City Space sets and a subscription to Nat Geo Kids magazine \u2013 cool<\/em>!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

1.<\/strong> LEGO’s founder,\u00a0Ole Kirk Christiansen<\/strong>, created the name “LEGO” from taking the first two letters of the Danish words\u00a0LEG GODT<\/strong>, meaning “play well<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n

2.<\/strong> If you put the\u00a0340 million Minifigures<\/strong>\u00a0produced last year next to each other in a line, it would stretch a whopping\u00a07,900\u00a0km<\/strong> \u2013 that’s almost the distance from\u00a0London<\/strong>, UK to Beijing<\/strong>, China!<\/p>\n

3.<\/strong> The famous LEGO brick that we play with today is more than\u00a050 years old<\/strong>. The bricks made way back in\u00a01958<\/strong>\u00a0will still fit perfectly with those you play with today!<\/p>\n

4. <\/strong>The moulds used to produce LEGO bricks are accurate to within\u00a0two-thousandth of a millimetre<\/strong>\u00a0(0.002 mm!<\/strong>). Because of this high degree of accuracy, there are only around\u00a018 bricks<\/strong>\u00a0in every million produced that fail to meet the company’s high quality standard.<\/p>\n

5.<\/strong> The world’s tallest\u00a0LEGO tower<\/strong>\u00a0is\u00a028.7m<\/strong> high. It was made from 465,000<\/strong>\u00a0bricks!<\/p>\n

6.<\/strong>\u00a0LEGO Minifigures<\/strong>\u00a0are the world’s largest population, with over\u00a04 billion<\/strong>\u00a0of them around the world!<\/p>\n

7.<\/strong> During the Christmas season almost\u00a028 LEGO sets are sold each second<\/strong>. Yikes!<\/p>\n

8.<\/strong> At LEGO attractions, such as\u00a0LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester<\/strong><\/a>, people are hired as “Master Model Builders<\/strong>“. Cool job!<\/p>\n

9.<\/strong> Laid end to end, the number of LEGO bricks sold in a year would reach more than\u00a0five times round the world<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

10.<\/strong> On average there are\u00a080 LEGO bricks<\/strong>\u00a0for every person on earth.<\/p>\n
