Formula E <\/strong>is electrifying in more ways than one! The thrilling, high-speed <\/strong>sport is the world\u2019s first fully electric<\/strong> racing championship. What\u2019s more, these precision-made motors zoom across the track at speeds of up to 280kmph<\/strong>. Woosh!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Formula E\u2019s rise is good news for the planet, too. Transport <\/strong>is one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas<\/strong> emissions \u2013 a whopping 29% <\/strong>of the world\u2019s total.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four fab Formula E facts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

1.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The first Formula E race took place at the at the Beijing Olympic Green<\/strong> Circuit <\/strong>on 13 September 2014<\/strong>. Envision Virgin Racing Driver, Sam Bird <\/strong>became the first Formula E driver to win a race in every Formula E season<\/strong>, after winning the 2019 Santiago ePrix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Fans can help determine the outcome of a race! Before and during a race, you can vote<\/strong> for favourite driver on social media<\/strong>. The drivers with the most votes get a short power boost<\/strong> to use whenever they want. Perhaps this little push could help your favourite racer overtake a rival?  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Attack Mode<\/strong> allows drivers to take special areas<\/strong> off the main racing line, which also give them a boost <\/strong>of power. This allows for awesome overtakes<\/strong> and passes. Zoom! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The cars are made from super high-tech materials like carbon fiber<\/strong>, aluminium <\/strong>and Kevlar<\/strong>. These lightweight materials mean that a car, including the driver, only weighs about 800kg<\/strong>, which helps them accelerate<\/strong> to speeds of 100kmph<\/strong> in 2.8 seconds<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
