The<\/strong> Natural History Museum\u2019s Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition is one of the world\u2019s top wildlife photography honours \u2013 it\u2019s kind of like the Oscars™ of the photography world!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

So if you\u2019re a budding young photographer<\/strong> who loves wildlife, get out into nature and take some sensational snaps<\/strong>! Your images can cover any aspect of wildlife and the natural world<\/strong> \u2013 from creepy crawlies and terrific trees to interesting habitats and urban wildlife. This year’s competition is the 61st edition<\/strong>, so what are you waiting for? Get inspired and get snapping!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vidyun R Hebbar – Dome home<\/em><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Vidyun R Hebbar<\/strong> loves taking pictures<\/strong> of spiders<\/strong> in the streets, parks and gardens near his home in Bengaluru, India<\/strong>. He snapped this spooky shot, Dome Home<\/strong><\/em>, at a local theme park<\/strong> \u2013 and scooped the prize in 2021. The tent spider\u2019s web was woven into a hole in a wall<\/strong> and Vidyun captured the image as a colourful tuk-tuk<\/strong> vehicle zoomed past <\/strong>in the background!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vidyun says:<\/p>\n“I first entered the competition was I was eight. Even a picture of your own neighbourhood can take you to Wildlife Photographer of the Year!”<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Liwia Paw\u0142owska<\/strong> – Recording by Hand<\/em><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Liwia Paw\u0142owska’s <\/strong>photo scored a Highly Commended<\/strong>, and won<\/strong> her the Impact Award<\/strong> for the competitions 60th anniversary<\/strong>. She snapped her winning entry, Recording by Hand<\/strong> <\/em>(pictured below) as she watched a common whitethroat <\/strong>being gently held<\/strong> by a ‘bird ringer’<\/strong>. She’s been taking pictures <\/strong>of bird ringers’ work<\/strong> since she was 9<\/strong>! Early bird!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Liwia says:<\/p>\n“When my mum told me that my photo was highly commended, and that I\u2018d won the Hope Award for the competition’s 60th anniversary, I let out a long scream of joy and disbelief. My biggest dream in photography had come true!”<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
