We asked NGK website readers to send us questions for Ben Miller\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What research did you do for the book and what\u2019s the weirdest thing you found out? Henry, 8<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I did a lot of reading about forests<\/strong>, and one of the strangest things I learned is that the trees communicate with each other via fungi<\/strong>! So if one tree starts getting eaten by insects<\/strong>, it tells the other trees<\/strong>, and they will give off a smell that drives the insects away<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who is your favourite Robin Hood character in the book? Ada, 10<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I love Nathan<\/strong>. He\u2019s a bit nerdy<\/strong> and is really into fungi<\/strong>. He loves it when he becomes a hero<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why did you pick the age 103\/4? Ted, 11<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When I was a kid I always used to count the quarters<\/strong>. So I\u2019d say, \u201cI\u2019m seven and a quarter<\/strong>,\u201d because that sounded more impressive<\/strong> than just “I’m seven!”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is Robin Hood at this age a lot like you were? Genevieve, 10<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Yes, a lot! I used to make my own bow and arrow<\/strong> and play in the fields behind my house<\/strong>. There was only one tree<\/strong> though, so hiding out was tricky<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you think are the qualities of a real-life hero? Rheya, 8<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Bravery<\/strong> is definitely important. And standing up for what you believe is right<\/strong>. Oh, and good hair<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\t\r\n\r\n\t\t
