The UK’s most famous dinosaur is on the move!<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Dippy the Diplodocus<\/strong>, who famously stands in the entrance hall of\u00a0London\u2019s Natural History Museum<\/strong>, will be leaving his usual home to go on a road trip!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Dippy, who has many fans of all ages, will be travelling around the UK so that lots more people will get to see him.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The\u00a021-metre<\/strong>\u00a0long dino tourist will make\u00a0Dorset County Museum<\/strong>\u00a0his first stop.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Dippy, who looks like a real\u00a0Diplodocus skeleton<\/strong>, is actually a plaster-of-Paris model.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It was first unveiled to the public in 1905, and has stood in the museum ever since.<\/p>\n

Dippy\u2019s last day on display at the Natural History Museum will be\u00a04 January 2017<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

After a year of preparation to get him ready for his big adventure, Dippy will then embark on his tour, visiting the following places:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0Dorset County Museum<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0Birmingham Museum<\/p>\n

\u2022 Ulster Museum<\/p>\n

\u2022 Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum<\/p>\n

\u2022 Glasgow; Great North Museum<\/p>\n

\u2022 Newcastle; the National Assembly for Wales<\/p>\n

\u2022 Number One Riverside, Rochdale<\/p>\n

\u2022 Norwich Cathedral<\/p>\n

\"Dippy<\/a><\/p>\n

Taking up Dippy\u2019s place at the London museum will be a\u00a0blue whale skeleton<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 but unlike Dippy, this one is the real deal.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The weighty whale is a heavy haul of bones at nearly\u00a04.5 tonnes<\/strong>\u00a0and is more than\u00a0100 years old<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Natural History Museum has promised, however, that Dippy\u2019s days on display will not be a thing of the past.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He will receive star treatment on return from his road trip, as he is set to be re-cast in\u00a0bronze<\/strong>\u00a0and given a special new home in the museum gardens.<\/p>\n
