But did you know that sport can DO good as well? Let&#8217;s find out more&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After a year of delays, the <strong>Olympic Games<\/strong> will soon be going ahead in <strong>Tokyo<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.natgeokids.com\/ie\/discover\/geography\/countries\/facts-about-japan\/\">Japan<\/a>. The modern Olympic Games were established by <strong>Pierre de Coubertin<\/strong> in <strong>1896<\/strong>! Pierre had a vision to use sport as a <strong>tool for good<\/strong>. Even though <strong>competition <\/strong>was important, he thought that the event should also <strong>celebrate<\/strong> people from around the world, <strong>coming together in one place<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since then, the Games have encouraged <strong>respect <\/strong>and <strong>understanding<\/strong> among competitors. During the <strong>16 days <\/strong>of sport, these awesome athletes all live together in the <strong>Olympic Village<\/strong> \u2013 which gives them a great chance to get to know each other! In the past, they&#8217;ve run programmes that help to <strong>make life better<\/strong> for young people facing <strong>disadvantages <\/strong>and <strong>uncertainty<\/strong>. <em>Awesome<\/em>! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Laureus has now launched a new campaign called \u2018<strong>Everyone Wins<\/strong>&#8216;.
