WWF is calling for planet-passionate people like YOU to take part in Earth Hour \u2014 a worldwide show of support for our brilliant planet.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

It\u2019s a special event where millions of people around the world will switch off their lights for\u00a0one hour<\/strong>, to show how much they care about the future of our planet and want to look after it.<\/p>\n

While the lights are out, you could chat with friends and family or play games in the dark. Think about what it would be like if this happened every day!<\/p>\n

Earth Hour<\/strong>\u00a0encourages you to think about the amount of energy we use (or waste!) every single day which contributes to our planet heating up\u00a0\u2014\u00a0a process known as\u00a0climate change<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0global warming<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Sadly, climate change spells bad news for wildlife, as they lose their habitats and face more\u00a0extreme <\/strong>and\u00a0unpredictable<\/strong>\u00a0weather. As\u00a0WWF<\/strong>\u00a0put it, there is no\u00a0planet B<\/strong>, gang!<\/p>\n

Nearly 4<\/strong>00 landmark buildings<\/b>, like\u00a0Buckingham Palace\u00a0<\/b>and\u00a0Edinburgh Castle<\/b>, will be switching off for Earth Hour. And you can join them, too!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Last year, around 9 million people took part in the UK alone\u00a0and this year\u2019s\u00a0Earth Hour<\/b>\u00a0is set to be the biggest yet.\u00a0We can’t wait to take part!<\/span><\/p>\n

Simply sign up at\u00a0<\/b>earthhour.wwf.org.uk<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0to join in.<\/b><\/span>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

Earth Hour starts at 8.30pm on the last Saturday in March of every year. Don’t forget to switch off!<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

So that you\u2019re not left in total darkness during Earth Hour, why not have a go at making these wildlife-inspired lanterns from recycled milk bottles? Get crafty and give them a try…<\/span><\/p>\n
