I am <strong>12 years<\/strong> and <strong>281 days<\/strong> old. I have seven friends.<\/p>\n<p>Three months ago, I solved the mystery of how my cousin <strong>Salim<\/strong> disappeared from a pod on the <strong>London Eye<\/strong>. This is the story of my second mystery.<\/p>\n<p>This summer, I went on holiday to <strong>New York<\/strong>, to visit <strong>Aunt Gloria<\/strong> and Salim. While I was there, a painting was stolen from the <strong>Guggenheim Museum<\/strong>, where Aunt Gloria works.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone was very worried and upset. I did not see what the problem was. I do not see the point of paintings, even if they are worth <strong>millions of pounds<\/strong>. Perhaps that&#8217;s because of my very unusual brain, which works on a different operating system to everyone else&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>But then Aunt Gloria was blamed for the theft &#8211; and Aunt Gloria is family. And I realised just how important it was to find the painting, and discover <strong>who really had taken it<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>Amazing art heists through history&#8230;<\/h2>\n<p>There have been many infamous cases of artwork being stolen over the centuries \u2014 some of which was recovered and some of which has never been found! Check out some real-life cases, below&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Mona Lisa<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10601 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.natgeokids.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/The-Guugenheim-Mysteries-book-Mona-Lisa.jpg\" alt=\"The Guugenheim Mysteries book\" width=\"635\" height=\"404\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.creatureandcoagency.com\/uploads\/2017\/07\/The-Guugenheim-Mysteries-book-Mona-Lisa.jpg 635w, https:\/\/cdn.creatureandcoagency.com\/uploads\/2017\/07\/The-Guugenheim-Mysteries-book-Mona-Lisa-300x191.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 635px) 100vw, 635px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Leonardo da Vinci<\/strong>&#8216;s <em>Mona Lisa<\/em> &#8211; one of the most recognised paintings in the world &#8211; was stolen from its hanging place in the <strong>Louvre Museum<\/strong>, Paris in <strong>1911<\/strong>. Unbelievably, the painting was smuggled out by an ex-employee of the museum \u2014 who concealed it under his clothes! Thankfully, it was recovered just a couple of years later.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">The Scream<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10603 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.natgeokids.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/The-Guugenheim-Mysteries-book-The-Scream.jpg\" alt=\"The Guugenheim Mysteries book\" width=\"635\" height=\"404\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.creatureandcoagency.com\/uploads\/2017\/07\/The-Guugenheim-Mysteries-book-The-Scream.jpg 635w, https:\/\/cdn.creatureandcoagency.com\/uploads\/2017\/07\/The-Guugenheim-Mysteries-book-The-Scream-300x191.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 635px) 100vw, 635px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Of the four versions that<strong> Edvard Munch<\/strong> created of his spooky scene,\u00a0<em>The Scream &#8211;<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0<em>two <\/em>have been pinched! Firstly in 1994, when four men broke into a museum in Oslo and stole the prized piece. The thieves even left behind a thank you note that read, &#8220;Thanks for the poor security&#8221;! Then, just over a decade ago, a second version\u00a0of the famous painting was stolen, again in Oslo. Two masked and armed men entered the Munch Museum and helped themselves to the famous picture. Two thieves disguised as police officers gained entrance to the Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum in Boston, USA, telling staff they were investigating a disturbance. They made off with 13 precious works of art, valued at an estimated <strong>$300 million<\/strong>!
