Tate Modern’s art competition winner!
Discover the winner…
We asked NGK readers to create an artwork inspired by Indigenous Australian artist Emily Kam Kngwarray, whose extraordinary paintings are on display at Tate Modern now.
Our worthy winner was six-year-old Ben, whose vibrant painting of a squirrel impressed our judge, Tate curator Kelli Cole. Well done, Ben!
Here’s what judge Kelli said:
“This gorgeous painting presents the artist’s youthful perspective of Country. It features the red squirrel, a beloved native species of the United Kingdom – much like the emu is an iconic native animal in Australia, often depicted in Emily Kam Kngwarray’s artwork.”
