Got a creative spark? An idea that could change the world? Enter The Eurekas competition!
What is The Eurekas?
The Eurekas is an annual physics competition for students aged 11-16 in the United Kingdom and Ireland. It has been thought up by the Institute of Physics to get more people interested in doing physics after they turn 16. Cool, right?
Whether you’re an aspiring musician, artist, chef or footballer, The Eurekas are looking for original ideas that harness creativity and inspire the senses.
Last year, they had some out-of-this-world, awe-inspiring, game-changing and mind-boggling entries, from the magic behind the Aurora Borealis to the mystery behind the Atom!
This year, they have a brand new challenge with bigger prizes and lots of ways to get involved. They’re challenging entrants to answer the question:
How can physics help make your home ready for the future?
An inspiring judging panel will pick the most original and creative entries, with a number of prizes up for grabs for students and their schools.
How to get involved
Your entry could be a video, an audio recording, a poem, a piece of art, whatever showcases your talents the best. Ask a parent, carer or teacher to submit your entry on The Eurekas website. And remember, you’ll need a short note explaining your submission too!
The competition closes on 8 June 2026. What will you come up with?
The prizes
The winning entry will receive a £1,000/€1,200 cash prize. The winner’s school will be rewarded for their support by receiving a £250/€300 voucher to go towards school equipment. Epic!
Not only that, but the two runners-up will receive £500/€600 each. Plus, The Eurekas will also be recognising individual excellence for each age between 11-16, and the best 6 entries will receive £250/€300 each.
Well, what are you waiting for? Enter at theeurekas.co.uk by 8 June!
