SEA LIFE Manchester’s resident sea turtle, Ernie, is on a health kick!

The marine turtle is about to embark on a new exercise regime for the New Year.

Turtles are omnivores, meaning they will eat both meat and plants. Unfortunately, Ernie’s big appetite lead to him becoming overweight.

Check out our 10 awesome turtle facts, here!

After switching to a strict vegetarian diet controlled by his carers, SEA LIFE’s hungriest resident is now 5kg lighter.

But the hard work’s not over for Ernie yet, because the staff have now created a special fitness plan to flip him into shape!

Exercising includes his very own diving kit, which produces bubbles for him to bite and swim through. Other workouts include playing chase with the SEA LIFE divers!

Sounds like things are now going just swimmingly for Ernie!
