Make a polar bear cake!

Go wild for this brr–illiant tasty treat…

Enjoy making new things? Love tucking into a delicious piece of cake? Then this is the recipe for you! Here’s how to create a yummy bear face in five simple steps…

How to make a polar bear cake

A selection of desserts, including a muffin, chocolate biscuits, desiccated coconut, vanilla buttercream, and a polar bear cake with jam filling on a blue plate with a spoon.

What you’ll need…

One 12-20cm cake
One muffin
Ready-made buttercream-style icing
Two chocolate buttons for the eyes
One large choccy biscuit or button for the nose
Desiccated (dried) coconut

Step 1

A hand cuts a slice of marbled polar bear cake on a white plate with a knife, set against a light purple background.

Cut the top off your muffin, then slice it in half. These will be the ears.

Step 2

A hand lifts a slice of polar bear cake topped with cream from a blue plate, which holds a round cake decorated to resemble a bear’s face with two smaller cakes as ears. The background is light purple.

Stick the ‘ears’ in place using a bit of icing. Place the other half of the mu n on the lower part of the cake for the nose.

Step 3

A person spreads vanilla frosting onto a two-layer round polar bear cake with jam filling on a blue plate. An open tub of Betty Crocker icing is nearby, and a piece of marble cake sits next to the main cake.

Using a spoon or spatula, carefully cover the cake, ears and nose with a nice thick layer of the icing.

Step 4

A hand places a round chocolate piece onto a polar bear cake atop a mound of frosted cake on a blue plate, set on a lavender tablecloth.

Now stick on your chocolate nose and eyes.

Step 5

A hand sprinkles coconut flakes onto a polar bear cake with a chocolate button nose, displayed on a blue plate over a lilac tablecloth. A bowl of coconut flakes sits nearby.

Sprinkle some desiccated coconut over your bear face to make the ‘fur’, then tuck in!

A polar bear cake covered in white coconut flakes sits on a blue plate. Two small round chocolate pieces form the eyes, and a larger chocolate piece forms the nose.

Top tip: if any of you bakers out there want to make the cake from scratch, use a thick cream-cheese icing!
