It’s 1918, and 12-year-old Londoners Bo and Billy live on opposite sides of the capital’s river. Orphan Billy lives on the north side, while mudlarker Bo, whose brother has gone away to fight in the First World War, is from the south.

One day, the young strangers each discover half of a mysterious treasure washed up on the foreshore of the muddy riverbank. Legend has it that when the pieces are joined together the treasure will have the power to return something precious that has been lost forever…

But should they put the treasure back together again? And why has the river chosen to give it to them now?
