Imagine a college where creativity, imagination and magic are all on the timetable…

It might sound like an idea plucked out of a J.K. Rowling book but such a place really does exist!

The College of Magic in Cape Town, South Africa is, well, exactly what you’d imagine! It’s a safe place where children can learn magical skills that they don’t teach you in school.

From magic to mime to puppetry and juggling, kids that attend the college learn to become spectacular masters of disguise, illusion and trickery!

The College of Magic

13 year-old Sesona Gagana, from Khayelitsha, is a dab hand at juggling!

But that’s not all, because they’ll also learn important life skills that help them to grow into incredible people.

Plus, the talents they learn at the college can apply to any job that they decide to do when they grow up – not just becoming a wizard!

Sadly, 57% of South Africa’s population live in poverty and over a million children have lost a parent to HIV or AIDS. 1.5 million children don’t even have access to clean drinking water and toilets – things that we take for granted.

With over 200 students and over 40 voluntary staff members, the College of Magic gives many South African kids the chance of a brighter future.

Find out more about their magical work at collegeofmagic.com!
