This primary resource encourages children to go outside to play and explore. Discover how to make a teepee-style tent using simple materials. Where did teepees originate from? Why were they designed in this simple manner?

Pupils will also discover suggestions for going on a ‘bug safari’, getting arty with items from the garden and becoming an ‘eco-detective’ in this National Geographic Kids’ primary resource sheet.

The teaching resource can be used as a printed handout for instruction in class time, or for display on the interactive whiteboard.

Activity:  Print the resource and complete the tasks. Children could design different patterns on their teepees, using paint brushes and fabric paint, stencils, potato prints, leaf prints, etc. They could take a copy of the resource home with them, to build a teepee in their garden.
